UNDERSTANDING THE REGULATORY REFORM (FIRE SAFETY) ORDER 2005 & ITS IMPLICATION FOR FIRE DOORS

Following the introduction of the RRO in 2006, heavy fines can be given for fire safety breaches of the Act. Prosecutions range from large well-known companies such as New Look who were fined £536,000, to small family-run businesses. The RRO shifts the blame to the ‘responsible person’ of that building; meaning anyone can be prosecuted under the act for lack of fire safety.
